About the Studio

GnarWare Workshop is a ceramics studio located at 1838 W Cermak Rd in the Pilsen neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. We are dedicated to serving Chicago by providing a place to make with clay and commune with fellow artists and hobbyists.

We welcome adults and children at all levels.

Join us for 6-week classes, single-day workshops, monthly memberships, or a day pass during open studio time.

OUR FACILITIES

  • Wheel Throwing

    Wheel Throwing

    We offer 12 Shimpo and Laguna Pacifico pottery wheels for classes and members. 2 dedicated wheels are available in the front for use during classes that require the throwing room.

  • Handbuilding Room

    Hand Building

    5 large work tables provide generous space for hand-built projects. We also have a table-mounted extruder with various die plates and a Shimpo slab roller with communal molds, stamps, and forms.

  • Firing and Decoration

    Firing & Decoration

    We fire to cone 6 in 3 electric kilns. The studio has 15 dip glazes for members plus Speedball underglazes, wax resist, brushes, and glaze application tools. Raku classes are offered in the Summer.
