LIZ McCARTHY

Liz McCarthy founded GnarWare Workshop after finishing her MFA at UIC. Her practice combines non-traditional ceramic methods with performance and photography. She received a BFA from University of North Carolina at Asheville, where she first began dabbling in clay. She regularly exhibits her installations and performances through out the city and beyond. She is also a lecturer at the School of the Art Institute and teaches classes for children with Marwen and C.A.P.E.

FRANCISCA (FRENCHY) VILLAGRANA

Francisca Villagrana is a recent BFA graduate from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago with an emphasis in ceramics. Francisca’s practice takes the form of sculptural and utilitarian objects in which she merges at times. Most of her work is made on the potter’s wheel as well as other ceramic processes such as slip casting and figure sculpting.

MANAL KARA

Manal Kara is a self-taught artist based in Chicago, IL and Gary, IN, working in various media including ceramics, video, installation, tattoo, drawing, and poetry.

NATALIE STEINMETZ

Natalie is a Chicago-based ceramicist. Natalie has her BFA in Fine Arts from Columbia College Chicago. She has spent the past decade working as a studio artist and ceramics instructor. Natalie currently teaches classes at The Takiff Center in Glencoe IL. Her work is recognizable for it's graphic surface treatments, ranging from the dark and creepy to fanciful floral patterns. Natalie exhibits nationally and her work can frequently be found at galleries and exhibitions throughout the country.
